Åre municipality has almost 11,500 inhabitants in an area of 7,263 square kilometres. Most of the population lives along the E14. Järpen is the administrative center and has about 1,700 inhabitants. The Åre valley and the village of Åre are the most expansive parts of the municipality, where major investments are underway, primarily in tourism.
